How many Haikyu!! OVA’s are there?

The term “OVA” refers to original video animation. They are episodes that were not aired on television. While they are frequently bonus fillers, they may occasionally include material from the source work.

In Haikyu!! There are presently five OVA episodes available. Only two, ‘Land Vs Sky’ and ‘The Volleyball Way,’ focus on the actual narrative of the story. I’ll be discussing the OVA’s, their plots, and whether they’re worth your time.

Haikyu!! : Lev Genzan!

‘The Arrival of Haiba Lev’ or ‘Haikyu! !,’ for short : Lev Genzan!” On November 9, 2014, the final episode of Dragon Ball Z was observed at the annual Shueisha anime event, Jump Festa.

A full English dub will also be produced for the anime; it will include all current and future volumes, as well as the 15th chapter of the manga.

The story follows Lev Haiba, a first-year Middle Blocker who aspires to be Nekoma’s ace.

Following the choice of Nekoma’s coach to include him in future matches, the story follows his training and synchronization with Kenma.

The group begins preparations for their practice match against Kunihira Senior High and a training camp in Tokyo.

This OVA episode happens approximately a month before the Tokyo training camp, which is not based on a manga chapter.

II. Haikyu!! : vs. “Akaten”

“VS. The third episode of ‘VS. Akaten’, aired on November 3, 2015, at Shueisha’s annual anime event Jump Festa, is known as “Failing Grades or ‘VS. Akaten'”. Furthermore, the manga’s 20th volume saw another bonus chapter titled “Kunimi to Gokumoku”. It was also included in a special edition DVD release of Haikyu, which included the 21st edition of the manga.

The OVA follows Hinata and Kageyama as they fail a test, discovering that their training camp clashes with the make-up exam.

They are all working hard to pass their make-up examinations and arrive at the camp on time in this episode. In the end, they are able to accomplish it with the aid of other Karasuno teammates and Saeko Tanaka’s sister.

It serves as a bridge between Season 2 Episodes 4 and 5, taking place just before the Tokyo training camp with Fukurodani Academy, Ubugawa High, Nekoma High, Shinzen High, and Karasuno High. It’s not based on a manga chapter.

Special Feature! The Spring High Volleyball was one of the OVAs included in a special edition release of Haikyu! ! The anime’s final two episodes will be subtitled, as well as the manga’s concluding volume of 27.

This episode follows a news broadcast that features a one-hour program focusing on two news anchors reporting about high school volleyball and the upcoming Spring Interhigh, a tournament with similarities to the volleyball version of Koshien.

They begin by describing the recent qualifying rounds in Miyagi, and then go on to introduce the participants from various schools.

Are the Haikyu!! OVA’s canon?

The only two official OVA’s are ‘Land Vs. Air’ and ‘The Volleyball Way,’ which were adapted from manga sequences. The first three OVA episodes do not follow the manga’s narrative and are thus non-canon.

Should you watch the OVA episodes?

While it’s not required to view the first three non-canon OVA episodes, they’re an ideal introduction to the subsequent seasons. Overall, they’re not terrible, but these movies aren’t worth your time. They also include extra sequences that make for an intriguing watch and are ideal for some light fill-in material.

However, the most recent two OVA series, such as Land Vs. Air and The Volleyball Way, are completely canon and based on the manga’s plot.

There are quite a few minor characters in this book, and you may miss out on them if you don’t read ahead. They should not be neglected since they are essential to the plot and introduce several key characters.
