Amber Heard Heard looking terrified: Amber Heard and Johnny Depp’s court battle is causing quite a stir. Heard made shocking revelations about her abusive relationship with Depp on Thursday, alleging she was sexually assaulted by a bottle.

The defamation trial for an op-ed Heard wrote for the Washington Post in December 2018, in which she described herself as a “public figure depicting domestic abuse,” began on April 11.

Although Heard did not name Depp in her op-ed, he has sued her for trying to imply he was a domestic abuser and is seeking $50 million in damages.

Heard countersued, claiming “rampant physical violence and abuse” at his hands.

What is the current status of the defamation case?

Johnny Depp has filed a defamation lawsuit against Amber Heard for an op-ed she wrote for the Washington Post in December 2018.

Actor, Johnny Depp, 58, and his ex-wife Amber Heard, 36, went on trial on April 12 in Fairfax, Virginia. The case revolves around a defamation suit Depp filed against Heard in 2019 in relation to an op-ed Amber Heard wrote about domestic abuse in 2018. Depp claims the article harmed his career indefinitely.

Moreover, After 13 days of testimony, Depp’s legal team rested their case on May 3, and actress Amber Heard testified for the first time on May 4.

Consequently, the six-week trial has already made headlines for everything from Depp’s obscene text messages to audio recordings of their arguments. 

This is the second lawsuit involving abuse allegations involving Depp and Heard’s relationship, following a trial in the United Kingdom in 2020.

In March 2019, Depp sued Heard for defamation for $50 million after she published an op-ed in the Washington Post the previous December. 

In the article, Heard discussed how women are treated in sexual assault cases and depicting to herself as a “public figure representing domestic abuse,” but she did not name Depp. 

Depp claims the article harmed his career and that he was fired from Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean franchise just days after it was published. 

Depp’s career was already in jeopardy following the couple’s public split and the abuse allegations that arose between them.

Both Heard and Depp have accused the other of physical violence, which both deny. “I never reached the point of striking Ms. Heard in any way,” Depp testified, “nor have I ever struck any woman in my life.” 

Heard was allegedly violent toward him, and he described one incident in which he was seriously injured after Heard presumably threw a vodka bottle at him.

Depp stood up and appeared to walk up to the witness stand in her direction as Heard, 36, was walking off the stand after breaking down while recounting the sexual assault incident to the court. The Pirates of the Caribbean star is legally blind in one eye and legally nearsighted in the other.

Prior to the tense encounter, Heard testified that her ex-husband, Johnny Depp, sexually abused her and threatened to “carve up” her face with a broken bottle during a big fight one month after their 2015 marriage.

Furthermore, the “Aquaman” actress detailed multiple instances of alleged physical and sexual abuse during her second day on the stand.

Depp told the court earlier in the trial that Heard was the aggressor in the argument, severing the tip of one of Depp’s fingers by throwing a vodka bottle at him.

The defamation trial began on April 11 in connection with an op-ed Heard did write for the Washington Post in December 2018, in which she defined herself as a “public figure representing domestic abuse.”
