Away Season 2 Release Date

With the first season concluding with a group of familiar characters arriving on Mars, the viewers are eager to know what will happen in another season.

However, Netflix has yet to confirm the renewal of another season. As of this writing, they have not yet updated whether there will be Away Season 2 or it is already in the making.

According to some reports, the possibility of a second installment is thin, but if they decide to renew another season, it might not be premiered until the end of 2022 or early 2023. Away Season 2’s development may be delayed because of the massive number of special effects required to create a genuine space experience.

Away Season 2 Expected Plot

For a quick recap, Away follows the story of the Mars Joint Initiative, the first crew who were missioned to Mars.

The crew included a Chinese scientist, a world-leading British botanist with no previous space experience, a Russian cosmonaut with the most significant space experience, an Indian medical and American commander Emma Green.

Emma’s husband was the trained astronaut who was supposed to be alongside her and would have led the expedition if it hadn’t been for a medical issue.

The expedition of three years will take off from the Moon, but some crew members are skeptical of Emma’s ability to lead due to her response to a crisis scenario at the start of the trip.

We can expect season 2 to start from where the first season left off when they were able to reach Mars. We cannot know the exact storyline because it is too early to speculate. Still, the showrunner told her interviews that she’d want to explore the privatized space race in a hypothetical second season, which implies some new individuals will be introduced.
