If a friend asks for Netflix suggestions, you’re likely to recommend Bridgerton right away.
Daphne Bridgerton and Simon Basset embark on a love affair in order to please their family, London society, and the mysterious gossip columnist Lady Whistledown in the first season of Grey’s Anatomy creator Shonda Rhimes’ Emmy-nominated period drama (voiced by Julie Andrews). Bridgerton has been nominated for three major categories at the 2021 Emmy Awards: Best Drama, Best Actor (Regé-Jean Page), and Best Directing for a Drama Series (Julie Anne Robinson).
Bridgerton fans already know what will happen to the Featheringtons and the Bridgertons if the show returns for a second season based on the best-selling romance author Julia Quinn’s eight-novel Bridgerton collection Season 2 information is below for those who haven’t read the books yet or are curious to see what Shonda does with the next installment.
When will Netflix release the second season of Bridgerton?
The second season of Bridgerton will premiere on Netflix on March 25, 2022.
There was an Instagram video of the cast announcing that the show’s second season would premiere on Netflix on September 15, 2017. A special edition of Lady Whistledown’s Society Paper was previously published to announce that the Bridgerton cast would return to production in spring 2021, this time with an emphasis on Anthony (Jonathan Bailey).
As stated in the pamphlet, Lord Anthony Bridgerton intends to “dominate” the social season. In the event that he engages in a romantic relationship, “I will be prepared to write about it.”

Bridgerton season 2 cast members have yet to be announced.
Season 2 of Game of Thrones will not feature the Duke of Hastings (Regé-Jean Page), as previously announced. For now, the show will say goodbye to Simon in favor of returning with Daphne (Phoebe Dynevor), as announced by Lady Whistledown.
You may be wondering why Regé-Jean Page is leaving the show. According to the actor, it was all part of the plan when he first signed on for the role of his character.
“One season is all it takes. Giving us a year is about right,” he told Variety of the plan, adding that he liked how it “felt like a limited series” to him.”
He went on to say: “I can’t wait to see what Bridgerton has in store for the rest of the world. Completing these arcs and landing them is important, but it is not the only consideration.”
We’ll all miss him terribly, I’m sure. The good news is that the following actors are expected to return in some capacity (unless otherwise informed):
- Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan)
- As Anthony Bridgerton, Jonathan Bailey
- Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton)
- Eloise Bridgerton is played by Claudia Jessie.
- Benedict Bridgerton is played by Luke Thompson.
- Lady Violet Bridgerton is played by Ruth Gemmell.
- Lady Portia Featherington is played by Polly Walker.
- Lady Danbury (Adjoa Andoh)
- In the role of Queen Charlotte, Golda Rosheuvel
- Marina Thompson is Ruby Barker’s character.
- Casting for Cressida Cowper by Jessica Madsen
Netflix announced last year that Simone Ashley would join the Bridgerton cast as Kate Sharma, Anthony’s love interest, in season 2. The streaming service’s announcement tweet reads, “Kate is a smart, headstrong young woman who suffers no fools—Anthony Bridgerton very much included.” Additionally, Charithra Chandran and Rupert Young have been cast in the roles of Edwina Sharma and Jack, a new character introduced in the books.

The second season has yet to be revealed.
Those who are fans of Julia Quinn’s novels will recognize the significance of the tiny bee that appeared at the very end of season 1’s final episode immediately. When Anthony’s father dies suddenly from a bee sting in Julia’s second novel, The Viscount Who Loved Me, he becomes Viscount Bridgerton. As Anthony’s love interest, Kate, gets stung by a bee later on in the book, bees become an integral part of the story.
Season 2 of The Bridgerton Chronicles will focus more on Anthony’s search for the perfect match than on Simon and Daphne’s relationship since it has been confirmed that the show will continue to follow the novels.
During an interview with Collider.com, showrunner Chris Van Dusen made it clear that the show’s future was uncertain. “Season 1 did a good job of setting up the supporting cast, in my opinion. We do a lot of digging into Anthony’s romantic past. Besides Benedict, Collin, and Eloise’s relationship, we’re also focusing on their interactions. There’s a rich vein of narrative here that I believe we should delve into “he asserted, according to her.
Chris, on the other hand, hopes that Netflix will eventually air all eight of the romance novels he’s written, each focusing on a different character’s journey to finding love.
