Cheer Season 3: Cheer debuted on Netflix in January 2020 and became an instant sensation. The docu-series followed the Navarro College Bulldogs cheerleaders from Corsicana, Texas, several of whom appeared to be on the verge of stardom.
Cheer, Netflix’s original sports docuseries, has enthralled viewers worldwide. The first two parts of the series, which show the Navarro College Cheer Team’s challenges and triumphs as they prepare for the National Cheerleading Championship in Daytona, were completed in January 2022.
Are you excited? Let’s dive into everything you need to know about Cheer Season 3.
What is Cheer About?
The six-part documentary follows the nationally ranked forty-member Navarro College Bulldogs Cheer Team from Corsicana, Texas, led by coach Monica Aldama, as they prepare to compete in the National Cheerleading Championship, which is held yearly in Daytona Beach, Florida.
The episodes focus on five individual Cheer Team members and contain elements of cheerleading history, such as the foundation of the National Cheerleaders Association (NCA).
As the series began, the Cheer Team had won fourteen NCA National Championships in the junior college division and five “Grand Nationals” for scoring the highest of any team in the competition.
Trinity Valley Community College in Athens, Texas, about forty miles distant, is one of their closest competitors and also a junior college.
The last episode discusses Varsity Brands, which was recently acquired by Bain Capital and appears to dominate most facets of the billion-dollar competitive cheering industry, including television rights to the Daytona Beach finals.
On Rotten Tomatoes, the series has a 96 percent approval rating based on 23 reviews, with an average of 7.75/10. “With an incredible troupe of kids and desire to engage in the harsher trials facing the sport today, Cheer expertly depicts the highs and lows of what it takes to be a cheerleader,” the website’s reviewers consensus states.
Greg Whiteley’s Netflix docuseries received six Emmy nominations, including three for best cinematography, editing, and overall excellence in an unscripted reality show.
Turning on the TV or scrolling through social media in January 2020 would have been difficult without seeing the happy, upbeat faces of coach Monica Aldama and her team of celebrity cheerleaders, which includes Gabi Butler, Morgan Simianer, Lexi Brumback, La’Darius Marshall, and Jerry Harris.
Cheer Season 3 Expected Plot
Season three of Cheer will pick up after the events of Season Two. As a result, expect a fresh cast and new competitions. The previous seasons focused on Navarro College and Trinity Valley Community College’s challenges on their route to NCC.
Season 3 will almost certainly see Navarro College’s return to Daytona in 2022, assuming the team decides to compete there again.
Season two was an unsurprising success with fans, and we believe that season three will be equally as enjoyable as the previous installments.
Cheer Season 3 Cast
It will be nice to see many of our favorite characters return if the sports television series is greenlit. Gabi Butter says she still has one year of junior high school left and will most likely return.
Unfortunately, Morgan Simianer’s journey concludes with the final season since she refuses to return to Navarro.
Simianer, on the other hand, said she had a great time during the event. Cassadee Dunlap is less excited about the potential of a third season because she has other plans, but Maddy Brum, Monica Aldama, and Shannon Woosley will remain in the docuseries.
With that, Dunlap is the only one who has left; the other team’s Jada Wooden refuses to sign on the dotted line.
So, will Season 3 of Cheer be renewed or canceled?
Cheer Season 3 Release Date
Cheer’s third season is rumored to be in the works, as the show’s creator, Greg Whitely, has been filming at Navarro College for several years.
Cheer Season 2’s devastating ending hints that a third season may be on the road. However, Netflix has not stated whether or not there is a plan for the show’s renewal.
That’s hardly surprising given that Season 2 has just been out for a few days as of this writing. Netflix typically waits for 30 to 90 days to assess how well a show performs before renewing it.
There is no release date specified because there is no information on whether Cheer Season 3 will occur. If the show follows the same pattern, spectators will have to wait until January to see the Navarro Bulldogs again; however, whether that is in 2023 or 2024 is unknown.
