Doctor Strange 2: Marvel lovers, are you ready? According to the latest trailers and rumors circulating the MCU, Doctor Strange 2 is gearing up to take on the multiverse – and a new foe.
Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) will wield a different type of power in the film, with rumors claiming she will play the adversary. This isn’t to say that Wanda’s rescue in the sequel isn’t possible.
Olsen’s contract with Marvel was recently extended for another seven years (according to a reliable Marvel insider), implying that the Scarlet Witch will continue to exist beyond the film.
What is Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness about?
As the multiverse begins to disintegrate, Doctor Stephen Strange will team up with Scarlet Witch to combat many threats. Scarlet Witch’s position in Avengers: Infinity War has been revealed thanks to a major Marvel leak.
As if dealing with Karl Mordor wasn’t difficult enough, we also have a slew of monsters, villains, and even an evil Doctor Stephen Strange to contend with!
We have our doubts that this will be simple.
According to Production Weekly, the plot follows Dr. Stephen Strange as he continues his research on the Time Stone following the events of Avengers: Endgame before an old friend turned enemy turns up, leading him to “unleash an awful monster.”
Scott Derrickson had said that the sequel would play up “the gothic [and] the horror” of Doctor Strange’s world while he was still attached as director. Marvel’s Kevin Feige said that while the film won’t be strictly horror, “it’ll be a big MCU film with scary sequences in it” while speaking at the New York Film Academy.
Doctor Strange 2 Plot
The official plot summary of Doctor Strange 2 is as follows: “The MCU unlocks the multiverse and pushes its bounds further than ever before in Marvel Studios’ ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.'”
Doctor Strange journeys the mind-bending and various dangerous worlds of the multiverse with the help of both old and new mystical allies to fight a strange new opponent.”
Wanda/Scarlet Witch is the enemy. She has the Darkhold and looks to be on a murdering rampage to reconnect with Billy and Tommy (based on her blood-splattered face in the latest trailer). “When you break the rules, you become a hero,” she even tells Strange at one point. I become the adversary when I do it. “How is that reasonable?” you might wonder. Is there any additional evidence we require?
WandaVision evil Agatha Harkness teased that the Scarlet Witch will “destroy the world,” implying that Wanda will succumb to the Darkhold’s power. She may try to use it to reclaim Billy and Tommy for good, but it would be problematic for the MCU and the rest of the multiverse.
Strange would need to band up with people like Chavez, Wong, and Rintrah to combat a danger like Scarlet Witch. “Meeting Wanda Maximoff after Endgame would have been a lot for Strange,” producer Richie Palmer told Empire. Who will emerge victorious as the universe’s most powerful being? Maybe at the end of the film, we’ll find out.”
Strange and Wanda will, however, be battling alongside one another before it. “They are arguably two of the most – if not the most – strong beings in the MCU,” Palmer remarked to D23 magazine. We knew it was only a matter of time until we put them together, and we did so in a fun and innovative way. It’s a conventional Marvel team-up, yet they do some unexpected things together.”
According to The Cosmic Circus, after things go bad, Strange will enlist the help of Chavez and others to find the Book of the Vishanti. We won’t reveal why the two pursue that tome because it would give too much away about the plot.
Even if Strange has to fight Wanda alone during the film’s conclusion, he’ll need assistance to stop her before that happens.

Doctor Strange 2 Release Date
In the United States and most other parts of the world, Doctor Strange 2 will be released on May 6, 2022. According to Rolling Stone, the picture will be released in the UK a day earlier, May 5. It is also expected to arrive on May 4 in European countries such as Germany, Italy, and Sweden, as well as South Korea, according to the news agency.
The superhero film was meant to be released on March 25. Still, it was postponed owing to reshoots in late 2021, according to lead actor Benedict Cumberbatch, who confirmed this at the 2022 BAFTAs.
Surprisingly, the film’s duration appears to have been announced in advance. Doctor Strange 2 will be two hours and 28 minutes long, according to Ingresso, a Portuguese website. Although it’s shorter than Spider-Man: No Way Home and a DC Universe film in The Batman, we recommend that you start planning your bathroom breaks (if you’ll need them) today.
