Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of FB now Meta, recruited a Google Executive named Sheryl Sandberg to join the creation of Facebook because of her relevant industry experience and it was a need for the platform to scale operations globally.
Zuckerberg was only 23 years old, and Sheryl was already 38. Luckily, she accepted and said, “The opportunity to help another young company grow into a global leader is the opportunity of a lifetime.”
Zuckerberg is now the same age when Sheryl joined him, and now Facebook is a global sensation. Last year, Sheryl made almost $120B for Facebook in 2021.
Mark also thank Sheryl for the years she has given Facebook and her service. In a Facebook post, Zuckerberg called the resignation of Sheryl the end of an era and said that Sheryl deserves much credit because of what she has contributed for the platform.
He said, “When Sheryl joined me in 2008, I was only 23 years old, and I barely knew anything about running a company … Sheryl architected our ads business, hired great people, forged our management culture, and taught me how to run a company.”
