Is there a shonen anime series that will be released later this year? Here’s What We Know

Fans have been waiting for the sixth season of ‘My Hero Academia’ since last month when it ended season five. Fortunately, season 6 has already been greenlit, and production on the highly popular anime is already underway. Izuku Midoriya is a young boy who aspires to be a superhero in this Japanese anime series. This is not beyond the realm of possibility in the show’s universe, as individuals from all over the world may acquire ‘Quirks,’ or extraordinary talents. Izuku, on the other hand, does not have a Quirk and discovers that in order to achieve his goals, he must take a different approach. Izuku gains the One For All quirk midway through the series, which is similar to being the Avatar in ‘Avatar the Last Airbender’ or when Will Stronghold in ‘Sky High’ learns he has ALL of the superpowers.

Unfortunately, the premiere date for season 6 has not yet been revealed. Based on past season production cycles, My Hero Academia season 6 is likely to be released in mid-to-late 2022. However, the conclusion of season 5 included a preview for season 6, which confirmed rumors from ‘My Hero Academia’ manga readers that the following season would focus on Izuku and Shigaraki’s rivalry. Season 5 of ‘My Hero Academia‘ grew quite dark and intense at the end, and season 6 is said to continue that darkness.

Shigaraki Is Getting Powerful

The final season of ‘My Hero Academia’ was focused on the Endeavor Agency and Meta Liberation Army story arcs from the manga, indicating that season 6 will follow the Paranormal Liberation War arc. In this storyline, the Meta Liberation Army, a band of radical superpowered people, joins forces with the League of Villains to form the Paranormal Liberation Front. It’s kind of like how rock bands in the 1980s created supergroups for scary anime battling, only this time it’s for horror anime fighting.

The main villain of the series is Tomura Shigaraki, who leads this organization in an attempt to steal Izuku’s One For All Quirk. Izuku and Tomura’s conflict in the fifth season teaser implies a confrontation between Izuku and Tomura, which will most likely lead to a confrontation with the heroes against the villains and Paranormal Liberation Front. The Tartarus Escapees Arc is the final arc in the series, although it’s not certain whether season 6 will reach this far or focus on the Paranormal Liberation War story. The Tartarus Escapees arc is where the manga is currently, so there’s a chance ‘My Hero Academia’ might do what ‘Game of Thrones’ did and go on past the current manga material.
