The initial season aired for three years, before being retooled and reset as “Narcos- Mexico” in 2018 for the fourth season. The fourth season of ‘Narcos’ will be called ‘Narcos Mexico,’ continuing the popular drug cartel drama set in Colombia. It’s a spin-off series that was created as a result of the significant shift in strategy at the conclusion of Season 3 of ‘Narcos.’ The creators decided to break the fourth season of the original program into two distinct stories that represented the new setting and cast of characters. ‘Narcos- Mexico,’ which follows on from ‘Narcos,’ is set in the 1980s and focuses on the origins of Mexico’s infamous drug trade, as well as the formation of Miguel Angel Felix Gallardo’s notorious Guadalajara Cartel. Gallardo is taken captive during the conclusion of Season 2, setting up a full-scale conflict as he is absent for Season 3.

Dan Cripe, who previously worked on the series as a writer and producer under his Megastar Productions banner, is now in charge of the narrative. Dan Cripe also served as executive producer for both Seasons 2 and 3 of ‘Narcos,’ as well as the first two seasons of ‘Narcos- Mexico.’ He has The final season will be co-created by original showrunner Iain Paterson, who served as an executive producer ever since the series’ inception in 2015. The news that McNairy will reprise his role as DEA Agent Walt Breslin, the show’s narrator throughout the first two seasons, has now been confirmed. Meanwhile, following his role as Miguel Angel Felix Gallardo in ‘Luna,’ he’ll be busy with the Disney+ spin-off series of ‘Rogue One- A Star Wars Story,’ titled ‘Andor.’

Alfonso Dosal, Mayra Hermosillo, Matt Letscher, Manuel Masalva, Alejandro Edda, Gorka Lasaosa, and Jose Maria Yazpik are among the returning actors. In Season 3, they’ll be joined by Luis Gerardo Mendez as Victor Tapia, Alberto Guerra as Ismael Zambada, and Luisa Rubino as Andrea Nunez. Bad Bunny, better known as Benito Antonio Martinez Ocasio (also known as ‘Narco Juniors’), will portray Arturo “Kitty” Paez, a member of the Narco Juniors gang.

The third season of Narcos is set to premiere on Netflix in October 2019. The trailer was revealed at the opening ceremony of Mexico’s historic New Year’s holiday, Cinco de Mayo.
