Pachinko is finally coming to the big screen as a Tv adaptation. 

The beloved epic historical novel by Min Jin Lee is finally getting a television adaptation. You may have heard of actress Min Jin Lee if you are a Korean drama or Korean movie fan, so you would know how she works in the industry.

Thanks to Apple TV+, we can expect to see and stream the show on the platform easily.

The Plot of Pachinko

Pachinko is an upcoming American drama series directed and produced by Justin Chon. The series will be based on Lee’s novel that follows the trials and tribulations of Korean immigrants in turn-of-the-century Japan.

The 2017 novel depicted racism, prejudice, and gripping intimacy under a different Asian lens.

The drama’s storyline will focus on the hopes and dreams of four generations of a Korean immigrant family that begins with forbidden love and crescendos into a sweeping saga that journeys between Korea, Japan, and America.

Pachinko will try to tell the unforgettable story of war and peace, love and loss, triumph and reckoning of the main characters. 

Lee’s effortless weaving of individual characters within this timeline will be shown and portrayed by its main protagonist Sunja.

The main protagonist, Sunja, goes on a journey to Japan amid poverty to reveal a deep-rooted undercurrent of intolerance towards Koreans in the country.

In Pachinko, Sunja’s story entwines the life of Hansu, along with a host of characters that are both Korean and Japanese.

When is the Release Date of Pachinko?

The upcoming tv-series is scheduled to air on Apple TV+ on March 25, 2022. 

The first three episodes of Pachinko will first be aired on the premiere date. Each subsequent episode of the show will, later on, be aired every Friday until the season wraps on April 29.

The production of the series has begun filming ever since 2021. Several fans even spotted actress Kim Min-ha in costume back in March 2021.

Lee Min-ho was seen earlier on the same spot where she was filming.

Pachinko stands at a hefty 490 pages, and the show is currently limited to eight episodes. However, it is not yet confirmed if showrunner Soo Hugh will follow the events of the book or in any way add new plot elements.

Although the show was announced to air on March 25, we have yet to wait for the time air of the series.

As of now, we have yet to wait for an official trailer of the upcoming series. We might all be excited to see it on screen, but we have only a month to go before it airs, so sit back and relax.
