Putin apologizes for Lavrov remarks
Russian President Vladimir Putin has apologized for remarks made by Moscow’s top diplomat, Sergei Lavrov, in which he claimed Adolf Hitler had “Jewish blood.”
“The Prime Minister accepted President Putin’s apology for Lavrov’s remarks and thanked him for clarifying his attitude toward the Jewish people and the memory of the Holocaust,” Bennett’s office said in a statement.
Bennett has attempted to resolve the issue and is one of only a few world leaders to have met with Putin since the invasion. In early March, he traveled to Moscow.

A Kremlin summary of the Bennett-Putin call, which coincided with Israel’s 74th anniversary as a Jewish state, made no mention of Putin apologizing.

Russian forces are present in Syria, and Bennett wants them to continue collaborating with Israel on strikes there.
So far, Israel has declined Ukraine’s requests for military assistance. Instead, it has provided medical personnel with bulletproof vests and helmets, as well as an Israeli field hospital.

Mr. Lavrov was also chastised by Dani Dayan, the director of Israel’s Yad Vashem Holocaust memorial.
“Most of his remarks are absurd, delusory, dangerous, and deserve to be condemned,” he wrote on Twitter.
“Lavrov addresses the reversal of the Holocaust: turning victims into criminals, based on the promotion of a completely false claim that Hitler was of Jewish descent.”
In a video address, President Zelensky stated, “I have no words… Moscow has not issued any denials or justifications.” “All we have from there is silence.”
The Ukrainian president went on to say that the Russian leadership had either forgotten or never learned “all the lessons of World War Two.”
