The First Lady will be an exciting new anthology series produced by Showtime. The First Lady series is set to explore the unique role of the past United States’ first ladies, focusing on how Michelle Obama, Betty Ford, and Eleanor Roosevelt have made it their own.

All About The First Lady
The First Lady is an upcoming American anthology drama television series that Aaron Cooley created.
Back in February 2020, it was announced that Showtime had given the green light for the production. The show is expected to “peel back the curtain on the personal and political lives” of past First Ladies. It is also likely to steer clear of the West Wing and instead focus on the East, “where many of history’s most impactful and world-changing decisions have been hidden from view, made by America’s charismatic, complex and dynamic First Ladies.”

The 10-episode series is created by Aaron Cooley and executive produced by Cathy Schulman, who also serves as showrunner.
The First Lady is set to premiere on April 17, 2022, at 9 PM in the United States. However, they still have not confirmed its release date in the United Kingdom.

The First Lady: Plot and Trailer
The first season of the series will tell the story of three presidential wives – Eleanor Roosevelt, Betty Ford, and Obama.

In the show’s trailer, it can be seen how Davis, Gillian Anderson, and Michelle Pfeiffer transformed into the three influential First Ladies. They will be portraying the roles of the three influential first ladies. The scenes also show the tensions in the office and how pressure is placed upon the presidential couples, their families, and their colleagues.

The First Lady: Cast
The cast of The First Lady is packed with A-list actors and actresses.
Viola Davis was the first to join the show, taking the role of Michelle Obama. Michelle Pfeiffer was later tapped to play Betty Ford, and Gillian Anderson was cast to play Eleanor Roosevelt.
Viola Davis, who is set to play Obama, will also executive produce the series and her husband, actor Julius Tennon.
