The Great Season 3: The Great is packed with gripping drama, from double-crossing and court tension to full-fledged civil war in the golden palace.
Fans are waiting for news on the series’ next chapter with bated breath.
Season 3 of the ‘historical’ show has already been confirmed, which is fortunate. It’s time to dust off those powdered wigs since Elle Fanning is reprising her role as Catherine, with Nicholas Hoult reprising his role as Peter III.
The Great Season 3 Expected Plot
Although there isn’t an official storyline summary for The Great season 3 yet, we can get a pretty good idea of what our favorite monarch will be up to in the future, owing to the cliffhanger finale of season 2.
We witnessed lots of murder, grief, and tangled relationships reach their conclusion at the end of season 2. Catherine’s diplomatic solutions led to her assassinating the Sultan of the Ottoman Empire and being put under severe duress to assassinate her dethroned husband, Peter, in a spectacular conclusion.
Catherine decided to solidify her power once and for all by stabbing Peter in the back while crying in the final episode of season 2. However, it turns out that she murdered a lookalike rather than her spouse.
Peter came out to comfort her when he saw her guilt; nevertheless, they were both left in the unpleasant predicament of realizing that, although loving each other, they both wanted to kill each other.
Season 3 will most likely find the two attempting to work out a solution that will allow them to live together, with Peter demonstrating that he has matured into a man who loves his wife and son Paul. Instead of the power-crazed monster who nearly drowned Catherine in season one, you know.

We’ll probably witness the destiny of her best friend Marial play out alongside Peter and Catherine’s future dramas. After Marial exposed Peter for sleeping with and then accidentally killing Catherine’s mother, Joanna, the Queen imprisoned her.
How will Catherine and Peter reconcile now that Peter undeniably smites Catherine? If this is the case, only time will tell.
As we all know, Catherine’s tale will continue whatever the new season’s premise.
According to the show’s executive producer Marian Macgowan, at least three more seasons are planned after this current installment.
