Why is USA Sending Support to Ukraine through Advanced Rockets?
The Biden administration decided to answer the calls of Ukrainian leaders, for them to send “more advanced rocket systems and munitions” as Russia’s Invasion in Ukraine has been ongoing for four months.
The rocket systems that were sent are worth $700M tranche of security assistance for Ukraine, again from the United States of America. It will be including helicopters, Javelin anti-tank weapon systems, tactical vehicles, spare parts and more.
Biden mentioned, “This new package will arm them with new capabilities and advanced weaponry, including HIMARS with battlefield munitions, to defend their territory from Russian advances.” According to the administration officers, the package will be unveiled within the week.
When Biden was asked regarding the Invasion, he said that Russia’s Invasion of Ukraine will end only through diplomacy. However, US must provide significant weapons and ammunition still, to give Ukraine the highest leverage at the negotiating table.
Joe Biden also added, “We will continue to lead the world in providing historic assistance to support Ukraine’s fight for freedom.”
Undersecretary of Defense for Policy Colin Kahl said in statement, “As the fight continues to change, the Ukrainians come to us with their priorities, We make our own assessments. We are always measuring things against what the Ukrainians need, our assessment of the battlefield, but also things like the impact that it has on our own armed forces, especially when we’re drawing things out of our own stockpiles.”
He also mentioned that USA Sending Support to Ukraine through Advanced Rockets would take about three weeks before the Ukrainian forces can use them, because they have yet to undergo training.
