Vikings Valhalla Season 2: The team is already working hard on a Vikings Valhalla Season 2 and the third season of the Netflix historical drama series Vikings Valhalla, which debuted earlier this year.

Netflix had originally ordered a 24-episode season of Valhalla, a follow-up to the History Channel’s original series Vikings. Still, it has now been split into three eight-episode seasons. Sam Corlett (Leif Eriksson), Frida Gustavsson (Freydis Eriksdotter), and Leo Suter (Leif Eriksson) are among those returning as creator, showrunner, and executive producer (Harald Sigurdsson).

Fans of the show will be pleased to learn that filming for Vikings Valhalla Season 2 has already begun, with a premiere date set for 2023. Here’s all we know about the Vikings Valhalla Season 2 on Netflix.

What is Vikings Valhalla All About?

Vikings Valhalla Season 2

Vikings: Valhalla stars Sam Corlett as the famed explorer Leif Eriksson, Frida Gustavsson as his fiery and rebellious sister Freydis Eriksdotter, and Harald Sigurdsson as the ambitious Nordic prince Harald Sigurdsson (Leo Suter).

As the conflict between the Vikings and the English royals reaches ahead, and the Vikings themselves clash over their conflicting Christian and pagan beliefs, the three Vikings embark on an epic journey that will take them across oceans and battlefields, from Kattegat to England and beyond, as they fight for survival and glory.

We have a very good notion of how well the show is based on Netflix’s Top 10 data. It was the site’s second most-watched show for the first two days, with 80.56 million hours viewed.

Between February 25th and April 3rd, 2022, the show received 265,550,000 hours of Netflix viewing (the first 37 days it was accessible).

Vikings Valhalla Season 2 Plot

Vikings: Valhalla, like its predecessor, plays fast and loose with history, prioritizing action and drama over historical accuracy. However, we may expect to see many significant historical events in season 2 and beyond.

The Greenlanders’ journey eastward has wreaked havoc on Leif and his sister, Freydis. In the end, all of their comrades who went to Denmark with them died. During the assault on Kattegat, Leif’s lover and fellow warrior died, and his death had the biggest impact on Leif.

The first season finished with various pieces on the board scattering across Scandinavia and Europe in search of glory, causing important power balances to shift.

Kattegat had a new ruler for all five seconds. Olaf was in command until Forkbeard’s fleet arrived. With Haakon’s departure, Kattegat’s next ruler will inherit a power vacuum – and potentially war.

That, however, is not Harald. He barely made it out of Kattegat alive with Freydis, his on-again, off-again lover. The Norwegian prince has become the Vikings’ number one public enemy after siding with Kre. Meanwhile, Freydis will deal with her newfound status as “The Last” and potential Viking rescuer.

Vikings Valhalla Season 2

Emma has recaptured the throne in England and, for the time being, has a solid ally in Godwin, who is supporting her in fending off any lfgifu retribution attempts. Mercia is likely to emerge as a new danger, and no one knows how long they can be held off.

Vikings Valhalla Season 2 Cast

In some roles, the cast of Vikings Valhalla Season 2 is set to return. They include actors such as Sam Corlett (Leif), Leo Suter (Harald), Frida Gustavsson (Freydis), Laura Berlin (Emma of Normandy), David Oakes (Godwin), and Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson (Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson) (Olaf).

Sren Pilmark (Forkbeard), Bradley Freegard (Canute), and Pollyanna McIntosh (lfgifu) will certainly return, given their prominence in the first season.

One character who is unlikely to return in season two is Caroline Henderson (Haakon). The Jarl of Kattegat died in the eighth and last episode of the first season.

However, there is still a chance of a comeback. She could appear as a ghost or anything like.

Kre’s actor, Asbjrn Krogh Nissen, is the same way. Kre was decapitated after a fierce battle with Freydis in Kattegat. He and Louis Davison’s King Edmund aren’t coming back.

In an interview with Jeb Stuart, he indicated that the second season would “put a whole new accent on Olaf” and that his son, Magnus, would emerge later in the series. Erik the Red, the renowned Viking warrior (and father of Leif and Freydis), was addressed in Stuart’s spoiler-filled speech.

Stuart describes Godwin as “a character for the long haul,” so he could be around for a while. What has happened will be beyond comprehension in London.

The early renewal was based on the program’s large upfront order when it was first announced. A total of 24 episodes were commissioned.

Netflix also acquired the licensing rights to the original Vikings series as part of the deal, with seasons 1-6 set to debut on Netflix UK and Netflix US in the coming years.

As of this writing, Netflix hasn’t confirmed a precise release date for Vikings Valhalla Season 2 beyond a general release date of 2023. We can, however, make an educated guess concerning the release date of the second season.

With work on the second season wrapped up in November 2021, we may expect the second season to debut on Netflix in early 2023, most likely between January and March 2023.

According to Netflix, Vikings: Valhalla will return for two more seasons on March 9th, 2022.
