The next day, Sam Shelton, a Freeburg High School teacher, pulled her into the woods and strangled her. He claimed that she had been in his car with him the day before and they had gotten into a disagreement. Even though the police were first doubtful, Shelton ultimately gave up and took them to the spot where he’d left Reeves’ corpse. He was arrested and received a 20-year sentence for attempted murder.

Despite her injuries, Reeves was still alive. However, her recovery was difficult and took a long time. The teenager had to rehabilitate his motor skills, including walking and talking. As part of Ashley Reeves Documentary, she told us all the details.

Police were called to his house moments before he was due in court after he tried to kill himself. He took prescription drugs and booze to die.

In 2007, Ashley’s loving family and the District Attorney’s Office agreed on a plea deal for him. Because of this, he received a sentence of 20 years in prison for attempted first-degree murder. Shelton attempted suicide by taking an intentional overdose of antidepressants.
