Bill Clinton Net Worth: William Jefferson “Bill” Clinton is both one of the most divisive and one of the most famous presidents in history. Clinton was elected after participating on the midnight talk show host circuit; his performance on “The Arsenio Hall Show” with the saxophone depicted Clinton as innately human and very cool.

Clinton’s popularity was unaffected by accusations of his infidelity. Many Americans brushed it under the rug.

Even though Clinton brought some dishonor to the office of President – for which he would be impeached – Clinton remains one of the most popular presidents in recent American history. Even impeachment couldn’t stop him from re-election in a landslide against the late Bob Dole.

Let’s get to know how much is Bill Clinton Net Worth as of 2022.

Early Life

Born William Jefferson Blythe III on August 19, 1946, in Hope, Arkansas. Clinton, three months before his birth, his father was killed in an automobile accident.

Soon after his birth, his mother, Virginia Dell Cassidy, left for New Orleans to study nursing, and he was reared in Hope by his maternal grandparents, Eldridge and Edith Cassidy. In 1950, his mother returned and married Roger Clinton Sr., and the family relocated to Hot Springs, Arkansas, where he grew up.

Clinton began using his stepfather’s surname almost immediately and legally changed his name when he was 15 years old.

As a Boys Nation Senator, Clinton paid a visit to the White House in 1963 to see then-President John F. Kennedy. This occasion, along with Dr. Martin Luther King’s “I Have a Dream” speech, encouraged a young Bill Clinton to pursue a career in public service.

On October 11, 1975, Bill married Hillary Rodham. Chelsea, their only child, was born on February 27, 1980.

Education

Bill would be awarded numerous scholarships to attend Georgetown University. Bill did not apply to any other schools, although he was accepted to the elite school.

Clinton served as class president in 1964 and 1965. He clerked thereafter, interning at Arkansas Senator J. William Fulbright’s office. While in Georgetown, Clinton was a member of the Alpha Phi Omega fraternity and a Phi Beta Kappa member. Georgetown University recognized Clinton by inducting him into the Kappa Kappa Psi musical fraternity as an honorary member.

Clinton would go to Oxford University in England to study. He received a Rhodes scholarship to study for a B.Phil in Politics. He did not obtain an official degree from Oxford because he left to attend Yale University.

Political Career

He returned to his home state of Arkansas after graduating from law school and began working as a law professor at the University of Arkansas. In 1974, he stood for the House of Representatives but was barely defeated by incumbent Republican John Paul Hammerschmidt.

He then ran for Arkansas attorney general in 1976, with no opposition in the general election, and was elected. Only two years later, he became the country’s youngest governor when, at the age of 31, he defeated Republican contender Lynn Lowe and took office at 32.

Clinton captured the nation’s attention with his primary focus on education and healthcare reform. He was even considered running for President in the 1988 election. Clinton was ready to run for President in 1992. He was elected President of the US in 1992, defeating incumbent President George Hubert Walker Bush and his Vice President Al Gore.

He was President for the first time from 1993 to 1997, and he was re-elected in the 1996 presidential election.

From 1997 to 2001, Bill Clinton served as President for the second time. During his presidency, he signed the Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993, also known as the Brady Bill, and enhanced the earned income tax credit. He also appointed two Supreme Court justices: Ruth Bader Ginsburg in 1993 and Stephen Breyer in 1994.

Bill Clinton left office with the highest approval rating of any President since World War II, 66 percent.

However, Clinton’s time in the White House was not without its ups and downs. The House of Representatives impeached Clinton on December 19, 1998. The House impeached him 228-206 on allegations of perjury before a grand jury, and he was impeached a second time 221-212 for obstruction of justice. The impeachment proceedings were predicated on charges that Clinton attempted to conceal and cover up his affair with White House intern Monica Lewinsky in an illegal manner.

Clinton was eventually acquitted of both counts by the Senate. He is the second president of the United States to be impeached, following Andrew Johnson and Donald Trump.
