Cursed Season 2: The fantasy series starring Katherine Langford (13 Reasons Why) had complex and breathtaking sequences worth binge-watching.
It is one of the most talked-about events of the year 2020.
Since its premiere on the streaming service, fans have wondered if the show will be extended for a second season. They will not, unfortunately, receive the answers they seek.
What is Cursed All About?
Cursed is based on Frank Miller and Tom Wheeler’s illustrated young adult novel of the same name. It is based on an Arthurian legend about a woman. Katherine Langford (13 Reasons Why) is shunned by her Fey community and presumed cursed, but she is destined to become the legendary Lady of the Lake.

She unexpectedly joins forces with Cursed’s juvenile King Arthur on a quest to find Merlin (Gustaf Skarsgrd) and deliver Excalibur (Devon Terrell). Nimue also becomes a potent symbol in the fight against the Red Paladins, a group of religious fundamentalists who wish to eradicate magic and, with it, the Fey people.
The presentation covers various issues, including bravery, religious tyranny, and the effects of war.
Due to the massive appeal of fantasy entertainment in today’s streaming industry and Netflix’s expertise in the genre with shows like The Witcher, Cursed season 2 was canceled. Although the cancellation of Cursed is disappointing, there are some valid grounds for it. Here’s why Netflix canceled “Cursed” and whether or not a Cursed Season 2 is on the way.
Cursed Season 2 Plot
Cursed is a retelling of the King Arthur legend seen through the perspective of Nimue. It is based on the same-named comic novel by Frank Miller and Tom Wheeler. Thanks to Netflix, the focus has changed from King Arthur to Nimue, the future Lady of the Lake. Arthur is a side character in the series and is Nimue’s love interest.
Two cliffhangers finished the first season, one of which was genuinely a cliffhanger.
Sister Iris, the crimson Paladin assassin, shot Nimue with arrows and sent her crashing down a mountain river.
Even though the main character ended up in a less-than-ideal situation at the end of the show,
On July 21, 2020, Nimue star Katherine Langford told Elle, “I feel like [season 1] is just the tip of the iceberg.”
“There’s a lot of talk about the sword this season,” Langford continued, “and I think it’d be fascinating to see just how deep Nimue’s powers go and what latent potential she has within.”
Unfortunately, it looks like we will never fully comprehend Nimue’s capabilities. Until Netflix reverses the decision or another streamer/network/studio picks up the show, we’ll have to live with this cliffhanger conclusion.
Cursed Season 2 Cast
There will be a lot to look forward to in Cursed Season 2 if Netflix agrees to extend the show. Iris shot Nimue with an arrow in the final episode of Season 1, sending her tumbling into the river. On the other hand, Nimue will not be completed.
Although our theory isn’t founded on her critical character status, fate is likely playing tricks on her. Fans should also watch the blossoming friendship between Prince Arthur, Lancelot, and Nimue.
Finally, the battle to succeed Father Carden as commander of the Red Paladins should be intriguing to watch.
- Katherine Langford as Nimue
- Gustaf Skarsgard as Merlin
- Devon Terrell as Arthur
- Daniel Sharman as Weeping Monk – Lancelot
- Sebastian Armesto as King Uther
- Peter Mullan as Father Carden
- Lily Newmark as Pym
- Shalom Brune – Franklin as Sister Igraine – Morgana
- Matt Stokoe as the Green Knight – Gawain
- Bella Dayne as Red Spear
Cursed Season 2 Release Date
Unfortunately, the series has been cursed even more severely. “Cursed” is one of the many dreadful Netflix series canceled this year. Netflix has remained silent on the show’s renewal status for a long time, and we’ve already concluded it’s been canceled. In July 2021, Netflix officially broke the silence, announcing that the show Cursed Season 2 would not be renewed.
Netflix hasn’t explained why the show was canceled. The streamer isn’t very eager to demonstrate their leading judgments. Netflix does not publish the viewing status of its programs, with the exception of specific titles that have been highly successful.
However, it’s easy to presume that the show didn’t live up to the streamer’s expectations. It’s also possible that Netflix decided to terminate the show due to the show’s high production costs, which are likely to rise more because of the current pandemic.
