What Twitter plans to do with Donald Trump

Users are divided on whether former US President Donald Trump should be allowed to use Twitter following his alleged role in inciting violence in the US Capitol on January 6. On Tuesday, Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, stated that he would like to reverse Donald Trump’s permanent ban because it was a stupid decision.

Thus, Elon Musk decides if Trump should stay or go on the Twitter.

Meanwhile, the creator of Dogecoin, Billy Markus, also known on Twitter as Shibetoshi Nakamoto, predicted what would happen if Donald Trump returned to Twitter. Elon Musk concurred, tweeting, ‘exactly.’

Following last year’s deadly attack on the United States Capitol, Trump was barred from entering the country. Before the attack, he frequently promoted conspiracy theories and false claims of voter fraud, both of which aided the January 6 attack, in which a swarm of his supporters attempted to overturn the 2020 presidential election.

“Following a thorough review of recent Tweets from the @realDonaldTrump account and the context surrounding them,” Twitter said at the time, “we have permanently suspended the account due to the risk of further incitement of violence.”

Following the January 6 Capitol Riot, Trump was permanently suspended from Twitter for violating the platform’s rules against incitement of violence, a decision made by Dorsey, according to the company. Trump’s account was quickly banned or suspended on other social media platforms.

Now, Elon Musk decides if Trump should stay or go on the Twitter.

Trump, for his part, has stated that even if his account is restored, he will not return to Twitter, instead promoting his social media venture, Truth Social, which appears to be struggling to gain traction.

Still, Elon Musk decides if Trump should stay or go on the Twitter.

Elon Musk said on Tuesday that if Tesla CEO Elon Musk follows through on his plan to buy the social media company, former President Donald Trump will be able to return to Twitter.

Trump was permanently barred from the social media site three days after the Capitol attack on January 6, citing “the risk of further incitement of violence.”

Hence, Elon Musk decides if Trump should stay or go on the Twitter.

Musk was asked about Trump’s possible return to Twitter in an exclusive interview with the Financial Times on Tuesday at the Future of the Car conference. Musk responded by saying he “would reverse the permanent ban” against Trump, but added, “I don’t own Twitter yet, so this is not a certainty.”

Musk noted that Trump has since resorted to using the Trump Media & Technology Group’s Truth Social platform. Following Musk’s acquisition of Twitter, Trump stated that he would not return to the platform, even if his account was reinstated.

Instead, he told Fox News last month that the platform’s user base is expanding and that it’s “much better than Twitter.”

“The bottom line is that I’m not going back to Twitter,” he stated.

Musk, on the other hand, believes Trump’s use of a different platform is “worse than having a single forum where everyone can debate.”

When asked if he stands by his statements, Musk stated that “bad” tweets should simply be deleted or made invisible, contrary to Twitter’s original reasoning for barring the then-president. He also believes that a “temporary suspension” is appropriate.

Consequently, Elon Musk decides if Trump should stay or go on the Twitter.

Permanent bans, according to Musk, should be “extremely rare” and reserved for “bots and spam/scam accounts.” According to him, this does not imply that people will be free to say whatever they want.

Anyone who posts something illegal or “destructive to the world,” according to Musk, should face a “time out,” temporary suspension, or having their tweet made invisible.
