It appears to be a lengthy wait. Heartstopper production began in January 2021, according to Netflix.

Before coming to print, the graphic novel had a following on Tumblr, where people read it.
What is Heartstopper All About?
The Gay Times called Heartstopper “the queer graphic novel we hoped we had in high school,” It was written and directed by Euros Lyn, whose credits include Sherlock, Damilola: Our Loved Boy, His Dark Materials, and Doctor Who.
Nick Nelson is famous, and Charlie Spring, a high-strung and openly gay over-thinker, is assigned to the seat next to him. This is the start of a journey that will significantly impact both of their lives.
Production began in late April 2021 and is slated to end in June 2021. The majority of the filming was said to have taken place in England.
We now know when Heartstopper will be available on the streamer, and it’s not far away.
Heartstopper is the story of two British students in a British secondary school—Charlie, a high-strung, openly gay overthinker, and Nick Nelson, a happy, soft-hearted rugby player—who are compelled to sit together one day.
The two quickly become friends, and Charlie falls for Nick, even though he doesn’t think he has a chance and dismisses it as ‘pining for a straight lad he can’t ever have.’ However, as the novel unfolds, romance blossoms, and Nick and Charlie discover a strong community of allies and friends surrounding them while finding out that there is no “right way” to come out.
There are some unexpected cameos to look out for throughout the eight-parter as well! Nick and Charlie will confront numerous challenges navigating the problematic territory of falling in love, but the story remains hopeful.
The show’s executive producer, Patrick Walters, anticipates that Heartstopper will appeal to a young audience.

Heartstopper Release Date
The first season of Heartstopper will be released on Netflix on Friday, April 22nd, 2022, at 8 a.m. GMT.
The season will consist of eight episodes, each lasting roughly 30 minutes.
Before the announcement, the show was set to debut on Netflix in 2022. The filmmaking process was assumed to be complete because filming was done in June, and the show most likely commenced post-production shortly after that. Post-production typically lasts six to eight months.
As a result, post-production may have been completed between December 2021 and February 2022. This set the show up for a spring 2022 release at the very least, which fortunately happened. We didn’t have to wait till the summer for this one.
