Production began in late April 2021 and is slated to end in June 2021. The majority of the filming was said to have taken place in England.

Heartstopper Plot
Heartstopper is the story of two British students in a British secondary school—Charlie, a high-strung, openly gay overthinker, and Nick Nelson, a happy, soft-hearted rugby player—who are compelled to sit together one day.
The two quickly become friends, and Charlie falls for Nick, even though he doesn’t think he has a chance and dismisses it as ‘pining for a straight lad he can’t ever have.’ However, as the novel unfolds, romance blossoms, and Nick and Charlie discover a strong community of allies and friends surrounding them while finding out that there is no “right way” to come out.
There are some unexpected cameos to look out for throughout the eight-parter as well! Nick and Charlie will confront numerous challenges navigating the problematic territory of falling in love, but the story remains hopeful.
The show’s executive producer, Patrick Walters, anticipates that Heartstopper will appeal to a young audience.
