A new romantic comedy movie ‘Your Place or Mine’ is releasing on Netflix this February, also four days before Valentine’s Day. Aline Brosh McKenna directed this movie, the plot of which revolves around two best friends.
Debbie and Peter live in LA and New York, respectively. Their friendship is twenty years old now. From the trailer, it is found that their acquaintance began with them sleeping together, though later on, they turned it into a strong friendship.
Debbie and Peter are vastly opposite to each other, Debbie being a single mother craving routine with her son and Peter living a colourful life in New York.
Where Debbie’s dating life is a graveyard, Peter thrives like a playboy. But when Debbie wishes to pursue a lifelong dream, Debbie and Peter decide to swap homes for a week. As Peter deals with the hard job of looking after Debbie’s son and forms a connection with him, Debbie meets a man in New York who becomes interested in him.
But when she informs Peter about her new date, Peter realises that he has feelings for Debbie, which is more than a strong friendship. As Debbie and Peter confront this new realization, their lives change with new choices.
When Is ‘Your Place or Mine’ Releasing?
The movie was first announced in May 2020 to be directed as her feature directorial debut by Aline Brosh McKenna. Lead female cast member Reese Witherspoon joined the cast at the very beginning, with lead male cast member Ashton Kutcher joining in August of 2021.
Names of other primary cast members, including Tig Notaro, Jesse Williams, Zoë Chao, and Steve Zahn, were announced in October of that year. Principal photography, too, began that month. The movie’s official trailer was released on Netflix on the 13th of January. It is scheduled to be released on February 10, 2023.

Reese Witherspoon
American actress Reese Witherspoon has been cast as the lead female protagonist Debbie in the upcoming movie. Witherspoon was nominated for two Academy Award nominations, including one win. In 2006 she won the Academy Award for Best Actress for the 2005 biographical drama ‘Walk the Line.
And in 2015, she was again nominated for Oscar as Best Actress. This time the film that grants her that honour is the 2014 biographical adventure movie ‘Wild‘. Her other important films include ‘Little Nicky‘, ‘American Psycho‘, ‘The Importance of Being Earnest‘, ‘Sweet Home Alabama‘, ‘Vanity Fair‘, ‘Rendition‘, ‘Water for Elephants‘, ‘Devil’s Knot‘, ‘Inherent Vice’, ‘Home Again’, ‘A Wrinkle in Time’ etc.
Witherspoon’s most significant movie role is of Elle Woods in the 2001 American comedy movie ‘Legally Blonde’. Two years later, she reprised this role in the sequel movie ‘Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde’ and executive produced it. In 2023 another sequel is set to arrive- ‘Legally Blonde 3’ in which Witherspoon will be seen portraying a forty-year-old Elle Woods.
Ashton Kutcher
American actor producer Ashton Kutcher has been cast as the lead male protagonist in the upcoming movie. In 2000 he portrayed the American singer and lead vocalist of the rock band The Doors- Jim Morrison, in the romantic comedy movie ‘Down to You.
In 2013 Kutcher portrayed the character of Steve Jobs in the biographical movie ‘Jobs’. His necessary tv credits include the sitcoms ‘That ’70s Show‘ as Michael Kelso, ‘Two and a Half Men’ as Walden Schmidt, and ‘The Ranch‘ as Colt Bennett.
Other Cast
Three other essential cast members of the upcoming movie are Jesse Williams, who will be seen starring as Theo, the man with whom Debbie becomes involved in a romantic relationship in New York. He previously starred in the films The Butler‘, ‘Jacob’s Ladder’, ‘Secret Headquarters’, etc.
But he is mainly known for his role in the renowned American medical drama series ‘Grey’s Anatomy, in which he starred as Jackson Avery from 2009 to 2022 as a recurring character in season six, as the main character from season seven to season seventeen, and as a guest character in season eighteen and season nineteen. Later in 2020, Williams reprised this role in the third season of the spin-off of ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ as a recurring cast member.
Stand-up comedian and actress Tig Notaro have also been cast in the upcoming movie, though the name of his character has yet not been disclosed. American tv and stage actress Zoë Chao will also be seen in the forthcoming film. She is mainly known for her role as Isobel in the comedy-drama series ‘Strangers’ and as Zoe in the murder mystery comedy series ‘The Afterparty’.
