Gun Culture in the United States
For the past few months, gun violence has been rampant in the United States, and many people are scared for their lives. They feel unsafe roaming around the streets, knowing someone might attack them with a gun and shoot them.
Compared to other countries, gun violence in the United States is very high. Firearms deaths are already a fixture in American life and 2020 alone, more than 45,000 Americans died at the end of a gun barrel, either be it suicide or homicide.
Moreover, based on data, 53 people are killed each day by a firearm in the United States.
As of 2018, there have been 390 Million guns circulating in the United States alone. We can assume from there that more than 390 Million guns are already circulating as of 2022.
However, deaths from mass shootings are more brutal to track and study than suicide and homicide. These incidents have been tracked by the FBI for over a decade already, and there were 345 active shooter mass incidents in the country from 2000 to 2020.
If you can recall, the deadliest among such attacks was back in 2017 in Las Vegas, where 50 people died, and 500 were wounded.
This has been a political issue in the US and has been an ongoing debate. Many people are asking to tighten the use of guns. However, in their Constitution, they have the right to own one.
Which is why, Joe Biden and Jimmy Kimmel on Gun Control talked about it on the Jimmy Kimmel Live Show. Details below.
