Is Made in Abyss Season 2 renewed?

Good news! Made in Abyss is finally confirmed to be renewed for another season if you are a fan of the anime series. Here’s what we know so far. 

The Plot of Made in Abyss

Made in Abyss is adapted from the popular manga of the same name.

The story’s timeline follows a girl named Riko, who is an orphan and lives in an imaginary town called Orth. In the middle of the city, there is a mysterious giant hole.

People who live in the town dive into the darkness of the hole to retrieve artifacts of a past civilization, and they have to explore all kinds of danger and risk their lives to find out the remnants.

The main character also wants to be a legendary raider, just like her mom, and within the times of her adventure, she meets a robot and even names it Reg.

She believes that her mother is still alive. Thus, she resides in the deepest part of the Abyss, where she sets off her journey with Reg to meet her mother again.

Made in Abyss Season 2: Release Date

The second season of the series is officially titled Made in Abyss: The Golden City of the Scorching Sun. Yet, we have yet to wait for the official announcement on when Made in Abyss will be aired. 

We can determine certain factors to assume when Made in Abyss Season 2 premieres. After Made in Abyss Season 2 was officially announced to be renewed in 2019, we finally know that it is coming this year, 2022.

Made in Abyss Season 2: The Plot

Akihito Tsukushi writes the manga Made in Abyss, and it has been published regularly since its debut in 2012.

The manga currently has nine volumes, but the series is ongoing, with a few chapters released on Web Comic Gamma that have yet to be collected into a 10th volume.

Although we do not have the official plot of the second installment of the anime yet, we can assume that the story will pick up from which volume the first season ended. 

Made in Abyss Season 2: Cast and Characters 

Again, the showrunners only mentioned the year of the release date for the series. So, we do not have enough information about Made in Abyss Season 2 cast just yet.

Although, we can assume that the second season will be getting back the original characters from the manga.

However, since it’s been years since the first season was released, we cannot assume if the voice actors will be back to dub their roles respectively again.

The first season was initially voiced in Japanese. The actors who were part of the series were Miyu Tomita as Riko and Mariya Ise as Reg. 

Made in Abyss Season 2: Official Trailer

Yes! You read it right. The show had released an official poster and trailer for the fans to anticipate the release of Season 2 this year. 

With the announcement and the trailer released, we have confirmed that Kojima will again be directing for this season.

The trailer begins with the group searching for an island at sea and eventually locates the island—the following scenes focus on the characters exploring the new area.

We can also see a conversation between newcomers Beliefs and Vueko. At the near end of the trailer, we get to see a look at Faputa, and the video ends with seeing Riko and Reg relaxing.
