Maleficent 3: Maleficent: The Evil Mistress was released almost years ago. It is the sequel to the blockbuster fantasy film Maleficent. Maleficent was a huge hit when released on May 2, 2014.
It grossed $758.5 million at the box office, making it the fourth-highest grossing film of 2014. It even took home the People’s Choice Award for Best Film.
Disney is planning Maleficent 3 after the success of the first two films.
What is Maleficent All About?
The film was inspired by Walt Disney’s Sleeping Beauty (film) and Charles Perrault’s French classic La Belle au Bois Dormant.
Maleficent tells the story of Maleficent, a powerful and kind-hearted fairy deceived by her true love, Stefan. As a result, he casts a curse on his daughter, Aurora, to exact vengeance.
Maleficent 3 Expected Plot
Maleficent: Mistress of Evil does a lot of world-building, which allows Maleficent 3 to go in any direction it wants.
Maleficent’s lineage as a Dark Fey and the many magical characters in the trilogy allows the franchise to go all out with wild fantasy, moving away from the “Maleficent vs. a frightening member of royalty” narrative of the previous two films.
As a result, if one were to predict, Maleficent might face a magical creature of equal or greater power or some other force capable of actually challenging her powers in the film.
That being said, Maleficent’s return to Aurora and Philip is something you can expect to see in Maleficent 3.
Mistress of Evil concludes with a promise that the mighty Fey will return to the Moors after Aurora and Philip have a child. Therefore the third film will almost certainly deliver on that promise with a baby.
Maybe this time, another enraged, superpowered fairy dressed in designer garb crashes into the baptism to curse the child, and Maleficent is left to clean up the mess.
Maleficent 3 Expected Cast
Because the series is titled Maleficent, it’s nearly a given that Angelina Jolie will reprise her role as the main character if a third film is made.
Aurora, played by Elle Fanning, and Prince Phillip, played by Harris Dickinson, are almost certain to return, considering they are still alive and married at the end of Mistress of Evil.
Maleficent’s devoted raven-human friend Diaval (Sam Riley) is also present. Because Maleficent grows further entangled with her Dark Fey past during the sequel, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the remaining Dark Fey boss Borra (Ed Skrein).
Moreover, fans are also hoping to see the fairy trio of Knotgrass (Imelda Staunton), Thistlewit (Juno Temple), and Flittle (Lesley Manville) together again will be disappointed.
After Flittle’s sacrifice in Mistress of Evil, they’ve become a fairy duet.
Michelle Pfeiffer is one of the more intriguing prospective cast members, but not how you might remember her from Mistress of Evil. Unlike King Stefan in the first film, Pfeiffer’s Queen Ingrith survives her time as a villain, but with Maleficent turning her into a goat until further notice.
While Maleficent 3 is unlikely to include the same adversary as the previous film, she is still Aurora’s mother-in-law and could appear in some form in the sequel.

Maleficent 3 Release Date
Disney is now working on Maleficent 3, according to insider reports.
We may expect Angelina Jolie to reprise her role as the famed villain shortly. However, based on what we’ve discovered, the studio has yet to set a specific release date.
Given that they are currently producing the project and a five-year delay between the first and second films, the third feature may not be released until 2024 or possibly 2025.
After nearly two years of waiting for news on the sequel, fans can rest easy knowing it is finally coming.
Maleficent 3 is a distinct possibility, even though the film’s producers have yet to confirm the third part; both films were great successes.
