Will there be Real Steel 2?

Shawn Levy’s Real Steel premiered back in 2011. It gave the audience a fascinating and unique story, and they loved it.

Touchstone Pictures in Australia released real Steel on October 6, 2011, and in the United States and Canada on October 7, 2011.

Although the movie received mixed reviews, it still received praises for its visual effects, action sequences, and acting performances.

Is it possible to get Real Steel 2?

The Plot of Real Steel

Real Steel 2

Real Steel is a 2011 American science fiction drama film that starred Hugh Jackman and Dakota Goyo. It was co-produced and directed by Shawn Levy for DreamWorks Pictures.

Real Steel is based on the short story Steel, written by Richard Matheson, initially published in the May 1956 edition of The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction adapted into a 1963 Twilight Zone episode.

The story follows how in 2020, human boxers will be replaced by robots. Charlie Kenton, a former boxer, owns Ambush but loses it in a fight against a bull belonging to promoter and carnival owner Ricky.

Charlie Kenton, the main character, used to be a prizefighter but lost his chance to win a title when heavy, towering robots took over the boxing ring.

Now working as a small-time promoter, he pieces together scrap metal into low-end fighters, barely earning enough to make it from one underground venue to the next. After hitting rock bottom, he reluctantly teams with his estranged son to build and train a championship robot for a last shot at redemption.

Real Steel 2: Release Date

It’s been a whole decade since Real Steel was released, but the huge year gap does not stop the fans from anticipating Real Steel 2.

Rumors have been going around that Real Steel will finally get a sequel but who sure are we?

As for now, we do not have any official announcement regarding Real Steel 2, so we cannot assume that it is already in the works.

Evangeline Lilly, one of the movie casts, has responded to questions about a sequel after Levy teases that one could still be made.

She said in an interview, “Real Steel is one of my favorite films I’ve ever been a part of. I thought there ought to have been a sequel because the film was so good and beloved. But I know that the reason there wasn’t was because the film was marketed as this testosterone-driven, rah-rah, beat-him-up kind of macho movie for boys between the ages of 18 and 35. But in actuality, it was a beautiful, heartfelt father-son redemption story for the family to watch together.”

Do we sense the cancellation of the sequel?

Hopefully not!
