Fans of ‘The Rookie’ were met with heartbreaking news on January 29, 2023: beloved actress Annie Wersching had sadly passed away at the age of 45 following a battle with cancer.

Throughout her career, Wersching made appearances in many iconic roles across TV and film such as Timeless, Star Trek: Picard, 24, and Bosch. On February 14, 2023—exactly two weeks after her death—the cast of ‘The Rookie’ paid an emotional tribute to Wersching to honor her legacy and impact.

Annie Wersching was a beloved actress who touched the lives of many with her remarkable performances over the years. Her untimely passing has left fans everywhere heartbroken—but we can keep Annie’s memory alive by looking back fondly on her extraordinary body of work.

Annie Wersching Died

In a statement following her heartbreaking passing, Annie Wersching’s husband Stephen Full said “there is a vast void in this family today. In the most mundane situation, she discovered wonder. She could dance without any accompaniment. She showed us that adventure doesn’t always find you—go locate it. It’s all over and we will locate it.”

Annie and Stephen shared a life together as proud parents of three children: Freddie, born August 8th 2010; Ozzie, born August 4th 2013; and Archie, born November 25th 2018.

Annie Wersching was an incredible actress whose memory lives on through her remarkable performances and parenting spirit. Her absence will be greatly felt by those who knew and loved her best.

Who Was Annie Wersching’s Character on The Rookie?

Annie Wersching took on the role of Rosalind Dyer, a notorious serial killer who became an enemy to the LAPD and specifically John Nolan, portrayed by Nathan Fillon.

Annie’s final appearance in The Rookie came in the fifth season’s fourth episode – ‘The Choice’ – where her character was killed off to the disappointment of fans everywhere. Her presence in the show had been highly memorable since she first arrived.

Neil Druckmann, the creator of The Last of Us, sadly shared his condolences through a tweet saying, “We just lost a magnificent artist and human being. My heart is broken. Our thoughts are with her family”.

Actor Abigail Spencer, who had worked alongside Wersching on the sci-fi series Timeless, tweeted in response to the news: “We love you Annie Wersching, You’ll be sorely missed”.

In addition to her works in TV and film, Wersching also provided the voice and motion capture performance for Tess in the beloved video game The Last of Us.

Despite being diagnosed with cancer in 2020, Annie Wersching courageously continued to work. She is survived by her husband, actor Stephen Full, and three sons. She was truly a brave actress!
