In its short lifespan, the universe has gone from just the books and video games, to being turned into a full-fledged Netflix series. In other words, the world of Witcher might look a little different than the Continent viewers originally thought they knew. And now, with its anime short “Nightmare of the Wolf” premiered online in December 2018 and making a splash at last year’s New York Comic Con, it seems we’re entering yet another new era of Witcher content. The Witcher: Blood Origin Release Date

So far, Netflix has released trailer. Witcher: Blood Origin to air – just that it will come out sometime in 2022. However, it seems like further information is on the way if the recent teaser was anything to go by. In May 2018, the creator of the series said in a tweet that a teaser for Season 2 aired later that month, and so we expect this new season will probably have another one around the same time. By contrast, The Witcher 3’s first teaser for Season 1 aired much earlier than this point – back in September 2011. Moreover, unlike The Witcher 3 itself, Witcher: The Blood Origin will have six episodes instead of the usual eight per season — so perhaps this prequel will come out sooner rather than later.

The Witcher: Blood Origin Plot

Though plot specifics are currently still under wraps, The Witcher’s showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich recently talked about how the prequel stands apart from the flagship series. “One of the things that Declan de Barra, who wrote the series, brought to it is: what if that world is not a medieval version of [our] medieval world or in fact even a very recent past version of our own age?” she said. “How is it easier to imagine having super smart people or in fact even really high-tech gadgets because they’ve had hundreds and hundreds of years where we have not?”

The Conjunction of the Spheres hasn’t been explored in any depth within the series, so you may be wondering what it actually is. There’s no need to worry though—Game Director Kate Hissrich has outlined what the event entails and why she chose to introduce it into The Witcher now. It’s one of many details that can be found in author Andrzej Sapkowski’s original books, but which weren’t fully fleshed out. According to Hissrich.
